Skill-Workshops

[:de]

IFAIR not only supports its members in exchanging information about job perspectives in international relations, but helps them learn the skills they need for a job in the field with hands-on workshops. Working for international organizations requires a number of core competences: fundraising, writing reports, coordinating and organizing events, negotiating and evaluating impact are only some of the skills that employers in international relations expect from applicants.

To find answer to questions like “Which skills do I need as a foreign affairs advisor?” or “How do I conceptualize a policy recommendation?”, IFAIR puts together skill workshops with renowned experts in multifaceted areas of international relations. In the past, IFAIR’s skill-building workshops have, for instance, been hosted by Dr. Klaus Hachmeier, Deputy Head of the department for North Africa, Middle and Far East in the German Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Technology, and by Agnieszka Walter-Drop,  Director of the Directorate General for External Policies of the European Union.

In a workshop covering fundraising strategies for NGOs, Lisa Grüster from the consultancy “emcra – Europa aktiv nutzen” taught IFAIR members how to unlock the potential of European funds for nongovernmental projects.
