GPPi Berlin: Call for applications (research assistant/associate)

The international Think Tank GPPi, based in Berlin, has accompanied IFAIR at its first steps. So we are glad to announce a great opportunity to work for these fine young people:

The Global Public Policy Institute (GPPi) seeks to fill two positions (at either research assistant or research associate level depending on experience) based at the institute’s Berlin office. The successful candidates will join GPPi’s Rising Powers and Global Governance program. We are looking for dedicated and entrepreneurial individuals who will support and shape GPPi’s policy research, dialogue and debate activities with participants and partner institutions in Brazil, China, India, Japan and South Africa (at present). Formats include the Global Debate and Public Policy Challenge, the Global Governance 2022 program as well as the collaborative research project Global Norm Evolution and The Responsibility to Protect.

The successful candidates must have:

  • Strong analytical skills and outstanding academic background in the social sciences, international law, history or a related field (minimum bachelor’s degree);
  • Excellent intercultural communication skills based on substantive personal experience in a culturally diverse work/study environment;
  • Academic interests in relevant areas of global governance (we are particularly looking for candidates with an interest in internet governance/cyber security and the debate on sovereignty and a Responsibility to Protect).

Excellent English-language writing skills are a must. English language editing skills as well as familiarity with social media publishing (such as blogging) and web content management systems are a plus. Command of other languages such as German, Mandarin Chinese, Turkish, Portuguese, Japanese, Bahasa Indonesia or Hindi would be a plus.

Candidates must be self-driven and able to work independently within a team context. These are full-time positions; part-time option is available (minimum availability three days per week).

Starting date: 1 or 15 September 2013 (later starting dates are possible in exceptional circumstances). Please indicate availability.

GPPi offers a dynamic work environment in the center of Germany’s capital, a young and international team working in a strong global network and an attractive platform for innovative researchers to develop their research interests and sharpen their academic and professional profile.
