Following last year’s highly successful project “Memory as a Tool of Change: Lessons Learned from Germany”, IFAIR brings young Germans and Russians together once more to address their shared history of totalitarianism and discuss their respective commemorative culture. Project Summary The burden of the past and blind spots in the construction of national historical truths often manifest in obstacles to intergovernmental cooperation. However, the mutual exchange of societies’ experiences and their understanding of past events can facilitate processes of remembrance, reappraisal and reconciliation. Final LACalytics Publication

After almost one year of preparation, selection and reviewal, the LACalytics Team publishes “EU-LAC Cooperation in the 21st Century: Combining efforts in a globalised world“. A total of 46 authors from 23 countries participated in the programme. Their work has been extensively published online over the past months. The twelve best contributions are featured in this publication, which manifests the programme´s interregional approach through its trilingual content. New in Advisory Board: Former Undersecretary of State Dr. Born

We are very happy to announce that Dr. Wolf-Ruthart Born has joined our Advisory Board today, as another prominent figure of German and international foreign policy. Dr. Born recently served as Undersecretary of State or Europe, political relations and the United Nations between 2009 and 2011. After postings in Sudan and Buenos Aires, Dr. Born was responsible for bilateral relations to all western European countries including Turkey and the negotiations for the Schengen-Agreement at the Federal Chancellery.
