Tuija Wigard
Tuija is currently undertaking a professional year as part of her Master of International Affairs at the Hertie School in Berlin. During this time, she will serve as a Carlo-Schmid Fellow in the MENA Section of NATO’s Political Affairs and Security Policy Division and complete an internship at the German Ministry of Defense. Tuija holds two bachelor’s degrees in political sciences and Middle Eastern Studies. For years, she has worked on countering global anti-democratic movements through various civil society organizations, including an NGO she co-founded in 2019, where she continues to serve as a board member (Democ. e.V.). Her interests include (counter-)terrorism, Russian influence in Sub-Saharan Africa, and the global resurgence of authoritarianism.
