IFAIR Talks: Knowledge without Barriers

What if access to knowledge didn’t depend on the ability to read?

Around the world, millions of women are excluded from essential information simply because they cannot read or write. This lack of access has real consequences: for health, financial security, agriculture, and ultimately for entire families and communities.

In this IFAIR Talk, we explore how knowledge can be made accessible beyond traditional formats. Together with the Audiopedia Foundation, we will discuss how audio-based learning in local languages can bridge critical information gaps and empower women in the Global South.

By turning knowledge into something you can listen to, Audiopedia creates new pathways to education, self-determination, and safety.

Join us for a conversation about innovation, inclusion, and the power of accessible knowledge.

About the Speaker

Felicitas Heyne is a German psychologist, author, and the founder of the Audiopedia Foundation. Born in 1966, she has dedicated much of her career to advancing women’s empowerment and access to knowledge.

Alongside publishing several books, her work has long been shaped by a strong commitment to supporting women in vulnerable situations. She spent years volunteering at a crisis hotline and counseling center for women affected by sexual violence, gaining deep insight into the real-world consequences of unequal access to information and resources.

With the Audiopedia Foundation, she combines this experience with innovative, scalable approaches to education. By delivering essential knowledge through audio in local languages, her work enables women with limited or no literacy skills to access life-changing information on health, finance, and everyday decision-making.

Her approach demonstrates how accessible knowledge can empower individuals, strengthen communities, and ultimately save lives.
