Gelila ist Regionalleiterin für Subsahara Afrika.
Derzeit studiert Gelila im Master International Security an der Sciences Po Paris im Rahmen eines Doppelmasters in Internationalen Beziehungen mit der London School of Economics. Zuvor absolvierte sie ihr Bachelorstudium an der Universität Mannheim in Politikwissenschaft und Soziologie und hat ein Auslandssemester an der Sciences Po Paris in Reims verbracht. Während des Studiums sammelte sie praktische Erfahrungen als wissenschaftliche Hilfskraft am Lehrstuhl für politische Wissenschaft IV (Universität Mannheim) und als Praktikantin im U.S. House of Representatives in Washington D.C.. Nach ihrem Studium absolvierte Gelila Praktika bei der Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung in Abidjan/Côte d’Ivoire und im Auswärtigen Amt in Berlin. Später arbeitete sie als Visiting Associate bei der Beratungsfirma africon GmbH mit den Schwerpunkten Vertrieb und Projektmanagement. Gelila spricht Deutsch, Englisch, Tigrinya, Französisch und lernt Arabisch.
